According to the Costa Rican Ministries of Tourism and Health, all car rental companies are required to follow strict sanitary protocols for the cleanliness of their vehicles and facilities.

Even solo travelers and couples will save money over the cost of individual flights or shuttle transfers. For example, the price of a round-trip bus ride from San Jose to Manuel Antonio is a minimum of $30 per person. The same round-trip flight within the country costs a minimum of $175 per person.
Once you arrive at your final destination, there is the additional cost and risk of getting around by cab, bus or hotel shuttle service.
